Description
The Carpenters were an American music duo consisting of siblings Karen Carpenter and Richard Carpenter. They gained widespread fame in the 1970s with their soft, melodic pop and easy-listening music. Some of their most well-known hits include “Close to You,” “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “Rainy Days and Mondays,” and “Yesterday Once More.”
Karen’s distinctive voice and Richard’s musical arrangements played a key role in their success, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Tragically, Karen Carpenter passed away in 1983 at the age of 32 due to heart failure related to anorexia nervosa, which led to a more intense focus on her legacy and the impact of eating disorders. Despite this, the Carpenters’ music continues to be beloved by fans worldwide
